Step 1

Read ''The Three Little Bears'' orally to your child. On a piece of paper write down ''who'' or ''what.'' Now tell your child that you will find the ''who'' or ''what'' from the story. There will only be one ''who'' or ''what.''
Step 2
Now you will write down the following sentence on the same sheet of paper from Step 1: ''The most important thing about the ''who'' or ''what.'' Write it about 2 inches below the writing from Step 1. Orally identify the most important thing and then write it down on the sheet of paper.

Have your child read another book orally. Afterwards, he/she will follow Steps 1 and 2 with your assistance.
